Why a site about disability survival?
There’s an old saying that says, “Life spins on a dime.” Normally we go through life flowing freely from moment to moment. We might know everything that is going to happen to us, but the one thing we don’t expect is a radical shift in how we live our life.
POW! From out of nowhere a car slams into us resulting in neck/back pain that takes months to recover from, if ever we do. A doctor tells you that the lab results aren’t good and that you’ll have to start cancer treatment immediately. You slip on an icy sidewalk and break an ankle, it’ll be a few months before you can walk on it again.
Physical disabilities is what we’re talking about, but there is an emotional twist that often isn’t acknowledged. It’s how we respond to the sudden change of life that effects us much deeper and one that doesn’t readily reveal itself.
